The Abuses Of The Winnipeg Parking Authority Part 5

Today's blog is going to focus on evidence. I'm not going to say much today about the significance of these items, though I'm sure you legal eagles can draw a line point A to point B.

1. The ticket

2. The Tow Bill

3. Quote from an e-mail from David Hill C.O.O. of The Winnipeg Parking Authority regarding this ticket.
" you have to have valid plate registration to drive "

This is the beginning of the law he quoted in the e-mail.
" A person may not drive a motor vehicle "


4. An official statement from MPI

"The WPA does not have immediate access to MPI data bases. The WPA will submit a list of licence plate numbers to Manitoba Public Insurance, requesting the registered owner of the plate and most recent address during a specific time period. Manitoba Public Insurance will provide this information within two working days."

5. The Court Disposition


For anyone that isn't drawing the line here, don't be upset, I will be explaining this along with new evidence in the next few days.

My vehicle was registered, was parked legally, and I was not driving it!

The Abuses of The Winnipeg Parking Authority Part 4

The most recent portion of my media campaign had the result I was trying to achieve, contact with the untouchable David Hill. The responses I received on the other hand left me realizing that I was never going to be acknowledged as a human by anyone including and especially Dave Hill at the Winnipeg Parking authority.

I will be posting the appalling e-mails by which Mr.Hill attempts to turn the table and make me responsible for this whole situation. However in this post I have other things I would like to discuss.

My most recent campaign was putting flyers on cars to draw attention to my blog and the battle I've been DRAGGED into. While I had great success in that David Hill not only acknowledged my existence but also made fist contact with me, it became very clear, very fast, that no apology was ever going to be forthcoming.

This is the important part

The one thing I've been trying to achieve since this whole incident occurred was just to have someone say "I'm really sorry, we made a mistake".

I'm not trying to build a million dollar lawsuit. I've been trying to find out if anyone at the Winnipeg Parking Authority holds any accountability to their position., their position to the citizens of Winnipeg. The conclusion of I've come to is ...if there is anyone in the Winnipeg Parking Authority that fits that bill, I haven't met them.

re: leaflets on cars

I would like to apologize directly to all the Parking Enforcement Agents. I am genuinely sorry that my campaign probably affected you in the most negative way when in fact my grievance is with management. Yes it was an enforcement agent that ticketed my vehicle with an illegal ticket but, I do understand that either it was lack of training or pressure from management to issue that sort of ticket. Either way I do realize the importance of your job and that errors happen in life. Unfortunately I had tried every other method to make contact with David Hill and this was, after being blown off by his assistant, the only way for me to get his attention.

It is very important that we all remember that we are all human beings. I hope that despite my campaign the Enforcement Agents treat and are treated with all the kindness and forgiveness of Gandhi.

Would you rather be right or happy? This is what I was asked the other day. Unfortunately at the moment I would rather be right, and the result is that I am definitely not happy. If anyone thinks that I'm having fun doing this they are sadly mistaken. It has and is taking a personal toll on me. and affecting my life very negatively. This is not a battle in life I would have chosen, but my options were....well I didn't have any other than sit back and take it.

The Abuses of The Winnipeg Parking Authority Part 3

Dealing with the Winnipeg Parking Authority has become like going down the Congo for Marley in The Heart of Darkness, the further I go the more insane the whole thing becomes.

After finding out that The Winnipeg Parking Authority had "stayed" my ticket and NOT "quashed" it, I wanted to inquire about how I could have this done. Ultimately I found out how to do this but what I found out in the process is what truly disturbed me.

There is NO direct line for the public to call The Winnipeg Parking Authority.

I tried calling on Saturday to make an inquiry and got an answering machine. At which point I was forced to find a friend to come with me as a witness to The Parking Store (to decrease the possibility of getting assaulted yet again). When I got there what I found out is that the only number you can call is a private line to someone who can decide whether or not they want to return your call or even talk to you in the first place.

This is a City of Winnipeg LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY.....and the public can't even call a front desk to get basic assistance.

They can seize your property at their discretion, put liens against you personally, but you can't even phone them when they are open.

This organization, this private company, appears to have been given the right by The City of Winnipeg to be our judge, jury, and executioner by whatever means they decide and without any consequence.

The Abuses of The Winnipeg Parking Authority Pt.2

After being on "The Great Canadian Talk Show" on Tuesday I continued on my quest for justice. Wednesday I applied under the "Freedom Of Information" act for all video and audio captured at The Parking store as pertaining to my being assaulted.

Conveniently enough the place you apply for that is a mere fifty steps away from the Mayor's office, so I popped in to discuss getting an appointment to see him. They were very helpful in explaining how to apply for an appointment with the Mayor. The Same day I submitted my application for an appointment with him.

Things get a little funny here.

I decided that since I was right next door to the Police station I would pop in and let them know what was going on. I went and talked to the officer at the front desk. It seems as though everyone is ten years younger than me now and this officer was no exception. I tried to explain to him that nothing had been done about my case, at which point he got on the defensive and starting asking me how I know what they're doing. Simply put, six months of you guys not returning my phone calls and refusing to tell me who the investigator is would appear to any member of the public as having done nothing. I quickly interrupted myself and began to explain that I wasn't there to be threatening about their lack of attention to my case, I was there to help protect them from the fallout that may occur from it. I explained that I had been on the radio about this case, I had personally requested the audio and video documentation, and that I was in the process of getting a meeting with the Mayor. The only reason I was at the Police Station was to let them know they should make sure all their T's are crossed and I's are dotted. He took great offense to this and told me he was sure that they had done their job to the highest of standards. I wasn't going to get into a pissing match with a guy with a gun, I simply requested that he let the detective in "The Back Room" know what was going on because I really don't want this to become a Winnipeg Parking Authority/ Winnipeg Police issue.

Here's the funny part.....

At 6 O'Clock that evening, six months after I filed the charges, 24 after being on the radio, less than an hour after being in the Mayor's office, Two investigators show up on my doorstep.

The Abuses of The Winnipeg Parking Authority

Jason Ross discusses on this broadcast of “The Great Canadian Talk Show” how the Winnipeg Parking Authority created a law to ticket his vehicle, illegally seized it, and when he went to their office to sort it out got physically assaulted by a parking authority official, illegally confined, and refused the right to use the washroom while being confined.

When the parking authority official was told that the Winnipeg Police supported Jason in the illegitimacy of the ticket he responded by saying “We don’t care what the police say, they have no control over us”.

After all of this Jason still attempts to settle this in a civilized manner however David Hill (Chief Operating Officer) refuses to talk to him and instructs his assistant to tell Jason that “He’ll have to sue”.
